Ulku G. Oktem, Ph.D

 
 
     
 

Dr. Oktem is an Adjunct Professor at the Operations and Information Management Department of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Senior Fellow at the Risk Management and Decision Process Center where she directs research programs on "Adverse Drug Effects", "Near-Miss Management", "E-Learning", and "Environmental Sustainability." She participates in the Center's management, and teaches "The Environmental Sustainability and Value Creation" in the Wharton MBA program. Prior to joining Wharton, Dr. Oktem was an adjunct professor at the Drexel University, Engineering Management Department.

Dr. Oktem is also the president of NESIMA Corporation at Richboro, PA. which she founded in 1995. NESIMA specializes in customized web based safety, health and environmental training programs and services. NESIMA's customers include Fortune 100 Companies.

Earlier in her career Dr. Oktem had worked at Rohm and Haas Company where she managed large-scale product development and manufacturing processes in agricultural chemicals and has led corporate safety, health and environmental policy development as well as corporate SH&E group restructuring.

Dr. Oktem began her career as Associate Director of the Chemical Division of The Marmara Research Institute of Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey where she established an environmental research group and directly interacted with manufacturers and government authorities.

Dr. Oktem holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
